September Rental Update

Bayleys North Shore rental manager Geri Martin says after a reasonably quiet July-August, she is looking for more rental properties to promote to a growing list of potential renters.
“I have plenty of people looking to rent in the wider North Shore area and willing to commit to longer term leases which give security to both the renter and the landlord. Particularly in demand are three-bedroom family homes and increasingly, two-bedroom units,” says Geri.
“I think many people are reassessing their household budgets and looking to economise on their housing costs where possible. I would love to hear from any landlords with two-bedroom properties in the up to $350 per week bracket as there is a willing market for these.”
In contrast to this and also in short supply - albeit with less demand - are more substantial properties at the higher end of the price spectrum.
Nicky Lewis, principal of Quinovic North Harbour who works closely with Geri through an alliance with Bayleys North Shore, says spring fever has hit the rental market with a vengeance.
“Enquiry levels have really picked up in the last couple of weeks with many people on the move and looking for a new property to rent,” says Nicky.
“In demand at the moment are homes in the Bays – Milford, Northcote, Takapuna, Birkenhead - and we are after tidy, warm properties with garaging.”
