Bayleys North Shore Japanese connection

To those living overseas, New Zealand represents a safe haven and a stable economic environment for property investment. Increasingly, Bayleys North Shore is receiving off-shore enquiry on properties marketed via our website and we have identified the Japanese market as one which warrants further nurturing.

Bayleys’ only Japanese-speaking agent - Hiroto Murakami from Bayleys Albany - regularly travels back and forth to Japan conducting seminars for qualified investors who are looking to invest in the New Zealand property market.

Hiroto was born in Japan and has a degree in accounting from the University of Tokyo. He has vast experience in accounting and asset management with a leading Japanese bank, USA accounting firms and a Tokyo-based Life Insurance Company. Together with his wife Keiko, he now assists Japanese investors with real estate matters in New Zealand from his North Shore base.

“Hiroto’s initiatives in Japan have resulted in some extremely positive business for our offices,” says Sue Stanaway, director of Bayleys North Shore.

“In the last four months we have had large groups travel to New Zealand to view properties with us as a direct result of the seminars Hiroto has organised.  We recently hosted 32 Japanese investors who viewed a selection of five hand-selected properties that we have on our books.

“Although the economic climate has been somewhat volatile for those in Japan, we have continued in our quest for new and overseas interest for our vendors. It is Bayleys motto to leave no stone unturned in the search for the best buyers for our clients’ properties and this Japanese connection is very valuable to us.”
