Big on the Community

The culture of Bayleys is wider than just providing a market leading sales organisation. An important part of the values of Bayleys is in giving back to the community and in supporting local and national charitable causes.

In April 2004 Bayleys embarked on a special and extremely rewarding sponsorship journey as principal sponsor of the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind’s (RNZFB) Guide Dog Services. Our goal, over three years, was to raise $1 million dollars, which we achieved in 18 months.

We’ve now raised over $2,200,000, with 100 Bayleys sponsored puppies already named and in training. Many have graduated, providing improved independence and quality of life to blind and partially sighted people around the country, while a select few have become breeding dogs.

Last month, Bayleys North Shore Residential were recognised at the Bayleys National Awards Ceremony for their dedication, support and commitment towards the RNZFB's Guide Dog Services, and other local organisations and charitable causes.

Bayleys North Shore Residential director Sue Stanaway said the team enjoyed its continued involvement in supporting Guide Dog Services.

“Giving back to the community has always been an important part of Bayleys North Shore's culture, and we are always ready to put our hand up to help our chosen charities and non-profit organisations,“ she said.

“We know the time and commitment involved in training a puppy is considerable, so we are very pleased to help out in any way that we can. I am very proud of the enthusiasm and support the team has given to the sponsorship of puppies, and we have enjoyed seeing each one grow up and go on to very happy owners.“

“Reaching the 100 puppy milestone as a company this year was a great result, and our team looks forward to supporting more puppies in their training towards becoming a guide dog.“

RNZFB Head of Guide Dog and Rehabilitation Services Paul Metcalf, is grateful for the long-standing support of Bayleys. “The independence a fully trained guide dog can offer a blind or partially sighted person is invaluable,” he said.

At Bayleys we admire the commitment, dedication and professionalism of the team at the RNZFB's Guide Dog Services in caring for and training puppies to take on the special role as the trusted guide assisting people to go about daily life.
The RNZFB receives no government funding for Guide Dog Services, so public support is essential. To find out more about how you can support this vital service please visit www.rnzfb.org.nz or contact your local Bayleys office.
