2010 AIMES Awards Winners

The annual North Harbour Club’s AIMES Awards - which recognise and reward excellence in our young people in the areas of Art, IT, Music, Education and Sport and Community involvement – were recently held, and Bayleys North Shore congratulates all of the winners.

Sue Stanaway, director of Bayleys North Shore is a member and trustee of the North Harbour Club and sits on the judging panel for the AIMES Awards.

“The standard of the applicants this year was outstanding; what an amazing collection of young people the North Shore has nurtured!”

The Awards attracted 86 entries across six categories with shot putter Jacko (Jackson) Gill of Devonport receiving the Sports Award and the Overall Award.

Jacko won Gold at the World Junior Athletics Champs in Canada in August when he was just 15 years old. He currently holds the world under-15, under-16 and under-17 records and wants to get the under-18 title to add to his tally.

Jacko’s motto is ‘chance favours the prepared’ and he impressed the AIMES Awards judging panel with his positive, goal-orientated approach to his sport and to life in general with ‘Olympic Champion’ right up there on his wish-list.

His $20,000 prize money will go towards costs of competition at the World Youth Championships in France next July. This is especially valuable as Under-20s generally get little in the way of help towards the cost of training and competing for their country.

“It’s exciting, inspiring and humbling to be on the judging panel for the AIMES Awards. I feel proud and privileged to be able to contribute personally and on a business level to the on-going success of the North Harbour Club and the Awards,” says Sue Stanaway.
