Bayleys North Shore Community Involvement

Giving back to the community is an important part of the Bayleys North Shore business model. General Manager Sue Stanaway says it’s an acknowledgement of both their corporate social conscience and a genuine show of solidarity for the local community.
“And it goes further than monetary donations and sponsorships. We always put our hand up to help our chosen charities and non-profit organisations with management, organisation and personal assistance at events. Our brand support goes beyond the expected.”
In 2007, Bayleys North Shore was awarded the North Shore Business Excellence ‘Contribution to the Community’ award.
Guide Dog Services: Bayleys nationwide network is the principal sponsor of the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind’s Foundation’s Guide Dog Services (GDS) which breeds and trains guide dog puppies for visually-impaired New Zealanders. The RNZFB relies heavily on sponsorship and donations as there is no Government funding for this service. Since the partnership began, Bayleys has raised over $1.8million for the organisation.

It costs over $22,000 to breed and then train a guide dog. Bayleys North Shore embraces the partnership between Bayleys and GDS and has raised enough money for three guide dog puppies since the sponsorship began in 2004. This year, Bayleys North Shore also assisted with the nationwide street collection appeal, hosted a fundraising brunch for clients and friends on St Patrick’s Day and also gave a substantial company donation to the cause. |
North Shore Hospice: This is one of Bayleys’ key sponsorships; assisting with event-managing and supporting the annual Bayleys North Shore Hospice Vintners Brunch. Featuring food prepared by some of Auckland's leading restaurants accompanied by an outstanding selection of wines from prominent Auckland wineries, followed by a Charity Auction run by Bayleys auctioneers, the event now raises over $140,000 annually for Hospice.
North Harbour Club: Bayleys North Shore is one of the key sponsors for the North Harbour Club which presents the annual AIMES Awards recognising excellence in North Shore youth in the areas of Art, IT, Music, Education and Sport and Community involvement. Sue Stanaway is a trustee of the Club and a judge for the AIMES Awards.
North Shore Enterprise YES Programme: Bayleys North Shore supports this programme as a sponsor and mentor assisting local secondary school students with business enterprise.
Business Associations: Bayleys North Shore supports both the Mairangi Bay and Takapuna Business Associations. They also donate their Mairangi Bay office car park each week to host the popular new Farmers’ Market.
Rise Up: Taking the family culture of Bayleys North Shore to heart, the team helped to raise $120,000 to assist 29-year old Ashley Thomson, son of Bayleys salespeople Garth and Beulah Thomson to get special medical treatment, Ashley was left a tetraplegic after a freak accident as a 19-year old and was accepted for ground-breaking stem cell treatment in India. Largely thanks to the Bayleys charity auction fundraising initiative, Ashley received the treatment and can now stand and walk with the aid of calipers for the first time in nine years.
